We Could Be Irrelevant Too
I recently received from a friend a testimony of a German who was a business man back before World War II. At the time, the man felt that the Nazis were not to be taken serious. So he, along with the many other peaceful Germans, did not believe the Nazis would amount to anything. The next thing he knew he had lost everything and ended up in a concentration camp. He echoes that much the same is heard about Islam. They are just people who want to live in peace but because of the extremist they have become irrelevant since they say and do nothing to stop such radicals. The fact is, it is the radicals who are currently involved in more than fifty wars worldwide. They are the same ones who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave; not because the people truly believe but because they just want to be left alone.
The majority of Russia just wanted peace when communism took over yet 20 million of their own people were slaughtered by the movement.
China’s huge population was peaceful but yet the communist movement managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.
Christians love peace too but peace is never found though our silence. Jesus did not come to bring the physical sword but the Sword of the Word of God.
After 9-11, churches reflected an increase in attendance but shortly after the surge it dropped off again because, according to the polls, the people found no relevance in the church.
Believing in Jesus means something! We say we believe He is the hope of the world but because we are so poorly rooted in our faith we risk making ourselves irrelevant to the rest of the world.
Won’t it be sad if some day history looks back on us and says “the American Christian proved to be peace loving irrelevant people because they had no passion about their faith?” |
